From Model Digitals to Agency Signing

I’m delighted when one of my clients gets signed to a model agency. It never gets old!
Earlier this year Katherine came to my London studio for a Model Digitals session (also known as Model Polaroids). Like many new faces, she was at the stage where she felt ready to start approaching agencies but wanted to make sure she was presenting herself in the right way.
We talked through her modelling goals, the type of work she was interested in and which agencies might be a good fit for her look. From there, we focused on creating a set of clean, professional model digitals that showed her natural features clearly and honestly, exactly what agencies want to see when reviewing new talent.
I’m really pleased to see that Katherine has since been signed with The Diversity Agency.
Why model digitals matter when applying to agencies
Getting signed with a model agency is an important first step if you want to pursue modelling professionally. While portfolios and creative shoots come later, model digitals are often the first thing agencies look at.
Strong digitals should:
- Show your natural look clearly
- Be shot in clean, flattering light
- Use simple styling and agency-standard posing
- Feel honest and current, not over-produced
Agencies review hundreds of submissions. Clear, professional model digitals make it easier for them to quickly understand your potential and decide whether to meet you.
This is why my approach to modelling digitals is deliberately simple and aligned with what agencies actually expect to see.
What happens during a model digitals session

During a typical Model Digitals session in my London studio, we focus on clarity, confidence and authenticity.
We’ll:
- Talk through your goals and where you are in your modelling journey
- Discuss which agencies might be a good fit for you
- Shoot a set of clean digitals using professional studio lighting
- Focus on natural, agency-standard posing
- Optionally include a short video digital for castings and brands
The aim isn’t to “sell” you or over-style the shoot. It’s to present the best, most accurate version of you in a way that agencies can trust.

Timing matters when submitting to agencies
Agencies tend to review new faces more actively at certain points in the year. In my experience, interest often increases:
- Towards the end of the year
- At the start of January
- In the run-up to London Fashion Week
Having your model digitals ready ahead of these periods means you can submit confidently, without rushing or sending something that doesn’t reflect you properly.
A career investment, not just a photoshoot
Professional model digitals are a practical investment if you’re serious about modelling.
They help you:
- Approach agencies with confidence
- Be taken seriously from the start
- Avoid common mistakes that can hold applications back
For many models, it only takes one agency meeting or one booking to move things forward, which is why digitals are often viewed as a necessary first step rather than an optional extra.
